84 degrees

That's how stinkin' hot our house is. And our AC has been on ALL DAY. The unit is on the fritz. We are having all kinds of drama with our home warranty company to try to get it fixed. We have a 3-week-old baby in this hot house. It's not cool. Not cool at all... literally and figuratively.

We pay the home warranty people to fix things when they break, but apparently they don't wanna fix things that are expensive to fix. We have gone back and forth with them about what is broken, what needs to be fixed, how much it will cost and how much we have to pay out of pocket. Well, we shouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket because that's what the dang home warranty company is for. We pay them yearly (and a service fee when they come out) and they pay to fix things. I guess they have a different opinion about how this works. We've decided to just take a cash settlement and hire an outside company to completely replace everything. Now we are just fighting with the home warranty people to get an adequate settlement amount. And we are getting quotes from a few companies to see who is priced best.

This whole situation is frustrating and ridiculous. I guess the only good thing to come out of all of this is the fact that getting a whole new HVAC system means cheaper monthly bills, cleaner air for our baby to breathe and a $1500 tax credit next year for having an Energy Star unit. At least there is a small silver lining in this whole mess.
